Lo and behold, there are no stars at all!

I’ve been working on a paiting that I am calling ‘The Chosen Worm.’

For me, it speaks on the human and universal story. A biology-cosmology of sorts. And a true tribute to the bases.

The journey of the sperm to the egg is poetic, and in the end, the fastest worm is not the winner. The egg chooses the sperm it will let in by allowing it to bind and ‘eat’ through the outer layer. Then, there is light, known as a ‘zinc spark.’

Once inside, the sperm leaves its body behind to block the entrance, releasing the nucleus in its head to merge with the nucleus in the egg. This completes fertilization, re-establishing 46 chromosomes and a gender in the zygote, which begins the rapid decent to the uterus that causes pregnancy.

Is anyone getting Jesus vibes? Because the sperm sacrifices it’s body, is ressurected in it’s nucleus, and brings the light in the form of the ‘Zinc Spark.’

If you would like to read more, I’ve went deeper into this concept on my Living Bases page.
